Under a Tuscan Sun
Quite Literally Actually
06.07.2009
And so marks the conclusion of our Tuscana voyage, as it is now off to Roma. So what have we achieved in the last four days? If I said not much, would you believe me? Firenze has been our rest stop, a chance to unwind and appreciate the fact that we are on the other side of the world. It’s given me the chance to realize that, yes, it is a great distance we travelled to be here, but how in reality, our world is very, very small. Unfortunately, people like my sisters don’t seem to appreciate this fact. They were more concerned that we aren’t doing anything, and were bored. See, they complain when we go out, and complain when we don’t. So we did venture out of Firenze, and into Pisa, to see the land mark that all good tourists go to see – the Leaning Tower that it is home to. This marks the second leaning tower I have seen in Italia so far (the first being in Burano, Roma, don’t let me down!). My Dad kept telling us before we went up that it’s a hard climb, and that we’ll be all sore from it, and that he was much fitter last year but he still felt it. Geez, it wasn’t that bad. Though, my clutz senses were telling me that it was very unsafe up there. If the Tower was in Australia (for some bizarre reason) no-one would be permitted to go up it due to the lack of safety devices installed to stop you from falling. So that was fun. We also went back into the city of Firenze to see a replica of Michelangelo’s David per my mother’s request.
The other days we’ve been here have like I said, just been resting, which has been nice. I swam bit, which you might think is lame that I included in here, but for starters, this is my blog so shut up. But really, I think this is a great feat, as this is the first time I’ve been able to swim/exercise since my operation. Anyway, so it 6:11am local time, and I’ve been awake now for two and a half hours. We’re leaving soon on the next leg of our adventure, so I must depart now.Toodles.
